The first Tuesday of every month is Public Domain Movie Night at Bierock.
On Tuesday April 7, Bierock hosts a screening of Lights of New York.
On National Beer Day, it felt appropriate to show a film about bootleggers and speakeasies. After all, we’re celebrating the repeal of Prohibition on this date.
Not only that, Lights of New York is considered the first all-talking full-length feature film from 1928. Even The Jazz Singer, released a year earlier, was only part-talkie.
The brief synopsis from IMDB sets the scene…
A gangster frames two bootleggers for the shooting of a police officer in New York during the prohibition.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Bierock’s full food and drink menu are available the night of the event.
Located at 2911 N. Sherman Ave., Bierock is part of the Northside TownCenter and across the street from Warner Park.
