Grateful Dead Beer & Music Night

Attention, Deadheads. On Thursday Oct. 7, Bierock is hosting a Grateful Dead beer and music night.

On this date we’ll be offering five Dead-inspired beers from three different breweries.

And better yet, we’ll be showing the live stream from Dead and Company’s performance from Tampa, Fla.

The beers start pouring at 3:00 p.m. when doors open, while the music starts at 6:00 p.m.

Customers can pretend they’re in the front row with the concert playing on our big projection screen TV.

Want to get the best price available? Happy hour is from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with $1 off all full-size pours.

The beer lineup, including their official brewery descriptions, is as follows…

Tighthead brewing

First up from Tighthead Brewing in Mundelein, Illinois is Scarlet>Fire…

Scarlet > Fire is an Irish-style Red Ale. The Name is a reference to the playful, improvisational transition between Grateful Dead’s Scarlet Begonias and Fire on the Mountain. Scarlet > Fire has a nice balance of malt sweetness from caramel malt and subtle toasty notes from roasted barley. The beer is brewed with American Ale yeast, and the hops are East Kent Golding’s, paying tribute to its heritage as an Irish Red Ale.

We follow that up with Bear’s Choice IPA…

A perfectly balanced IPA designed to showcase the wonderful complexity of Mosaic hops. A blend of 7 different malts including aromatic, melanoidin, and carastan creates a malty sweet tapestry for the hops to tie dye with flavors and aromas ranging from blueberry, papaya, and tangerine to fresh pine and dank resin. We add hops at 6 different points in the brewing process for full expression of the hop character, with each sip offering a different experience.

Destihl Brewery

Up next is Haze of the Dead from Destihl Brewery in Normal, Illinois…

Our Deadhead IPA Series melds the strong vibe of our favorite music with the beer we love to drink, elevating both into a higher state of consciousness. Our Haze of the Dead reverberates with booming amounts of Citra and Simcoe hops piercing through the melodic mouthfeel of flaked oats, wheat & pils malts, concocting into a Juicy, Hazy Double IPA that will be sure to wake the dead. Cheers!

terrapin beer co.

We round things out with a pair of choices from Terrapin Beer Co., starting with Mango Dreamsicle…

Mouthwatering mango flavors collide into a dense creamy sweetness that helps to create our Mango Dreamsicle IPA. This luscious fruit-forward beer will have you dreaming of your very own tropical paradise.

Finally, there’s a hefeweizen called Love is Love…

Brewed in celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride, Love is Love is a traditional Bavarian Weissbier with characteristic banana and estery clove flavor and a pillowy, thick foam cap. 15% of proceeds from Love is Love will benefit the Human Rights Campaign and LGBTQ+ organizations across our distribution footprint!

So come on out to Bierock to taste some heady brews on Thursday Oct. 7 as we roll away the dew.

The full food and beer menu will be available during the event with 24 tap lines of craft beer.

Bierock is located at 2911 N. Sherman Ave, part of the Northside TownCenter and across the street from Warner Park.
