German Beer Day 2025: Special Tapping at Bierock

UPDATE: Bierock was unable to secure a keg of DAB Maibock, but that didn’t stop us from acquiring a keg of a unique German beer.

On Wednesday April 23, we will tap a keg of the flagship Erdinger Weissbier from Bavaria, established in 1886.

ORIGINAL POST

Bierock is host to a special tapping on German Beer Day, Wednesday April 23.

It only made sense to mark the occasion as a bar and restaurant with German roots.

We’re tapping a Maibock from Dortmund, Germany.

When doors open at 3:00 p.m., we’re pouring from a keg of Maibock from DAB or Dortmunder Actien Brauerei for the first time at Bierock.

According to the brewery…

Bockbier has a long and rich tradition behind it – originating in the North of Germany around 1351. Bockbier is a strong beer which was traditionally brewed in monasteries to help monks during fasting. The monks brewed it during the 40 days of lent.

A Maibock is a pale, more hopped version of bock beer generally made for consumption at spring festivals and made according to the Reinheitsgebot.

And that’s exactly why we’re celebrating German Beer Day on Apr. 23, the anniversary of the Reinheitsgebot—or German purity law—that states beer is made with only three ingredients: water, malt, hops and yeast.

The Reinheitsgebot dates all the way back to 1516.

So join us to hoist a pint and pair it with a bierock. Prost!
