Bierock Celebrates American Craft Beer Week

It’s American Craft Beer Week from May 13 to 19, and predictably Bierock is having a couple events to celebrate the occasion…

  • Tuesday May 14: Dark vs. Bright featuring Founders Brewing
  • Thursday May 16: Sierra Nevada Summerfest Ticket Giveaway
  • Saturday May 18: Working Draft Elbow Patches Tapping

As a bar dedicated to craft beer with 24 tap lines, it’s only appropriate we hold a couple special events and tappings.

To kick things off, we’re featuring two different beers from Founders Brewing in Grand Rapids, Mich., one dark and one bright.

The dark option is their flagship Breakfast Stout, a double chocolate coffee oatmeal stout. It checks in at 8.3% ABV and has a perfect world-class rating of 100 from Beer Advocate.

Coffee lovers: get your mugs ready because this is the perfect beer for you. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, specialty chocolates, and two types of coffee, this stout has an intense fresh-roasted java nose topped with a frothy, cinnamon-colored head that goes forever. With low bitterness and just the right amount of sweetness, you’ll be coming back for seconds.

Meanwhile, the bright option Mortal Bloom, a Hazy IPA and new addition to the year-round lineup at Founders in 2024.

Mortal Bloom reminds us that you can find what you’re looking for in truly unusual places. This radiantly beautiful hazy IPA will wrap your tastebuds with intense citrus and tropical notes of pineapple and mango. The intense flavor is balanced by a soft mouthfeel, making Mortal Bloom incredibly flavorful and aromatic without any harsh aftertaste. Embrace the unconventional with Mortal Bloom.

Then on Thursday May 16, we’re giving away ticket to Summerfest as we tap a keg of Summerfest by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.

Summerfest is a refreshing summer lager and part of the brewery’s seasonal rotation of beers.

Everyone that purchases a pint on May 16 will be put in a drawing to win a set of tickets to Summerfest in Milwaukee.

Then on Saturday May 18, we tap of keg of local favorite Working Draft Beer Company’s Elbow Patches English-Style Extra Special Bitter.

Brewed with English Maris Otter and Crystal malts as well as East Kent Goldings and Brewer’s Gold Hops. The result is a simple & sessionable Amber Ale with notes of bread crust, hazelnut, caramel, toffee, dried herbs, and peach marmalade.

We’ve got live music the evening of May 18 by Jack Tomlinson, who we think could use a couple elbow patches on his jacket.
