National Beer Day: Special Tappings at Bierock

Bierock is celebrating National Beer Day in 2024 with a pair of special tappings.

National Beer Day celebrates the passage of the Cullen–Harrison Act legalizing the sale of beer and leading to the repeal of prohibition in the United States.

Up first is New Beer’s Eve on Saturday April 6.

Coming on the heels of their annual Barleywine Fest, we acquired a keg of Ryewine by local Giant Jones Brewing Company.

The brewery description is as follows…

A big and spicy rye beer, with toasty rye-bread notes, silky body and a light fruitiness

A couple extra notes from Giant Jones on this year’s version of the beer, “There wasn’t enough organic pale malt available, so a blend of 37% pilsner, 27% pale and 15% Vienna malts lend supporting roles to the star: 21% rye malt. And of course Jessica’s favorite hops – Pacific Gem!”

Ryewine checks in at 10.2% ABV.

Then on National Beer Day proper on Sunday April 7, we tap a keg of Nordic Spring Hazy IPA, a seasonal release from Dogfish Head Brewery in Delaware.

The brewer’s description is found here…

A super citrusy hazy IPA brewed with Norwegian Kveik yeast, wild juniper berries, orange peel and Danko rye malt.

Nordic Spring is also the first release of Dogfish’s 2024 Off-Centered Art Series, featuring artwork from Methane Studios on their packaging.

And on on April 7, we’re offering to-go growler fills of Nordic Spring for only $15 for one day only, a savings of $4.50 off the regular price.

So there you go, two different beers made with rye malt, both very different styles.
