Bierock hosts a notable Kentucky Derby Watch Party in Madison on Saturday May 1, 2021.
Following a year in which the event was postponed due to COVID-19, the Derby is back in its traditional calendar space on the first Saturday in May.
In celebration, Bierock honors the best of what the Bluegrass State has to offer, namely horse racing and bourbon.
kentucky bourbon barrel ale
First up is a tapping of Bourbon Barrel Ale by Lexington Brewing Company in Kentucky, featuring custom glassware.
According to the brewery…
Our Kentucky Irish Red Ale is aged for at least six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries. Subtle, yet familiar, flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co.
We’ve secured a sixth barrel of this specialty beer, but being a limited quantity, when it’s gone, it’s gone.
Additionally, we’ll serve Mint Julep cocktails made with Maker’s Mark bourbon and garnished with a sprig of fresh mint.
big screen TV
Appropriately, the Derby and its undercard will be shown on Bierock’s big projection screen TV. Customers will be able to pretend they’re on the homestretch at Churchill Downs.
Bierock’s full food and drink menu will be available the day of the event.
So wear your best Derby hat and join us to watch the first leg of the Triple Crown in the 147th annual Run for the Roses.
Doors open at 11:00 a.m. with the post-race coverage expected to conclude around 6:30 p.m.
At the time of publication, Bierock is limited to 50% indoor capacity but has additional full outdoor seating available as well.
Located at 2911 N. Sherman Ave., Bierock is part of the Northside TownCenter and across the street from Warner Park.
